How To Use Keyboard Numpad to Control Mouse:

Follow the given steps to activate the Keyboard Mouse:

To edit this feature, first you should be logged in your Windows account with administrative rights.

To activate this feature, Press Alt+Shift+NumLock keys. Then you will receive a small MouseKey box.

To keep MouseKeys on, click on Ok button.

Click on Settings button, if you want to adjust the mouse cursor settings.

Here a new dialog box will appear with the title Settings for MouseKeys, now you can manage all mouse settings for example mouse cursor speed, acceleration and some other features.

Now using Numeric keypad, you can move your mouse pointer.

The Controls are :

* 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8 and 9 keys are used to move the mouse cursor into 8-different directions.
* Key 5 is used as mouse click button.
* Insert[zero] key used to hold down mouse button.
* + Sign used to double click on any object.
* Delete button used to release the mouse.

Click on NumLock button to disable this keyboard mouse feature.

In Fact when the Keyboard Mouse is On, an icon will show in the taskbar in right corner near system clock.

Advantage :

* It is a great alternative to your actual mouse or your laptop touch-pad.
* Since 8 keys can control its movement, the mouse pointer gets high precision.
* If you are a laptop user, you don’t have to carry a mouse with you.
* Now, you don’t have to worry in case your mouse or touch-pad gets damaged.

Disadvantage :

* This feature can’t be used inside fullscreen PC Games.
* Most laptops don’t have separate numeric keypad.

How do optical mice work?

I­t appears that the wheeled mouse is in danger of extinction. The now-preferred device for pointing and clicking is the optical mouse.

Developed by Agilent Technologies and introduced to the world in late 1999, the optical mouse actually uses a tiny camera to take 1,500 pictures every second. Able to work on almost any surface, the mouse has a small, red light-emitting diode (LED) that bounces light off that surface onto a complimentary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) sensor.

The CMOS sensor sends each image to a digital signal processor (DSP) for analysis. The DSP, operating at 18 MIPS (million instructions per second), is able to detect patterns in the images and see how those patterns have moved since the previous image. Based on the change in patterns over a sequence of images, the DSP determines how far the mouse has moved and sends the corresponding coordinates to the computer. The computer moves the cursor on the screen based on the coordinates received from the mouse. This happens hundreds of times each second, making the cursor appear to move very smoothly.

Optical mice have several benefits over wheeled mice:

* No moving parts means less wear and a lower chance of failure.
* There’s no way for dirt to get inside the mouse and interfere with the tracking sensors.
* Increased tracking resolution means smoother response.
* They don’t require a special surface, such as a mouse pad.

Although LED-based optical mice are fairly recent, another type of optical mouse has been around for over a decade. The original optical-mouse technology bounced a focused beam of light off a highly-reflective mouse pad onto a sensor. The mouse pad had a grid of dark lines. Each time the mouse was moved, the beam of light was interrupted by the grid. Whenever the light was interrupted, the sensor sent a signal to the computer and the cursor moved a corresponding amount. This kind of optical mouse was difficult to use, requiring that you hold it at precisely the right angle to ensure that the light beam and sensor aligned. Also, damage to or loss of the mouse pad rendered the mouse useless until a replacement pad was purchased. Today’s LED-based optical mice are far more user-friendly and reliable.

Does your Computer hang frequently? Fix it in two easy steps:

Problem: The mouse freezes and the screen seems to have come to halt and also keyboard does not respond as well.

This is generally a computer hang. Main reasons behind the PC hangs are:

Why Computer Hangs?

1 Overheating of processor / Motherboard. If the cooling fan is faulty, the processor gets heated up and ceases to work beyond a particular temperature.

2 Faulty hard disk drive.Hard disc problems also hangs the computers in case the important Operating System files needed to keep the computer running, become in-accessible.

Solutions : To Fix the PC hangs (computer hang problem),you need to follow two steps:

Step1: Check that the cooling fans on the processor is working properly or not. So ensure that the fan is working fine and is clean. If not, then get the fan replaced. Also check for the additional fans on your computer casing/cabinet(if any).

Step2: To Fix this, run a disk scan which checks for disc errors and fixes the bad sectors (some examples are scandisk and checkdisk utilities in windows & fsck in linux). If there are bad sectors which can not be repaired, then you need to replace your hard disc.

Tip for enhanced performance: Once there are no bad sectors and the disc scan is complete, do a de-fragmentation of your hard disc partition(this may take long time), it will help the computer to access files easily and computer runs better(also fast in some cases).

These three steps will fix your computer hangs considerably.
